“You Can’t Do That!”

It was a fascinating experience to be the part of the audience of that circus. I couldn’t help myself so I went near the backstage to thank the organizers for entertaining us.

I was even more grateful when I was able to walk around looking closely at the animals like Lion, Tigers, Giraffes and so many other circus animal. Suddenly, my eyes caught the glimpse of those huge animals, the elephants, who were accompanied by their trainer. But the most confusing thing was, that how were they being held by just a small rope tied to their froont leg? No chains, No cages, just a small, thin rope.

It looked pretty obvious that the elephant could, at any time, break away. But then, why they did not?

While these questions were revolving in my head, I decided to ask about them to their trainer. I asked him that why these elephants are here with no cages and chains, they can easily break away from that weak rope.

“Sir,” He said, “we brought them when they were young and were much smaller. That time, we used to tie them with this same sized rope and it was enough to hold them. At that age, they did try to break away but couldn’t. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe that they can’t break away. They think that rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

How many of us are tied to the same rope and fear to break away because once, when you tried, you failed?

How many of us are going through the life hanging on to a belief that we can’t do something because we failed at it once?

Just remember, the elephants could, at any time, break free but they didn’t because of their own limiting beliefs.

If you think you can’t do it, then let me just say it for you, You can never ever do it!

We live in a world where many of us set our own limits and just because your beliefs doesn’t allow you, you think you can’t.

Remember, Just one more try and the elephants can become free and can do what they thought they couldn’t… πŸ™‚
