The Blind Illusion! #4

“Then pray to god to give you the strength, to watch your friend evaporate to death” said Estern, clicked his lighter and a flame evolved around it’s tip.

The girl didn’t blink, but her eyes reflected the fear. “Don’t do this to me. You can’t.”

“Try me, I can” Estern said with a smile. “Caleo” whispered Mark.

The flame on the tip of the lighter swirled and rose weaving a ball of fire. The blazing ball floating in the air brightened the room evading the darkness in the cell. With a smirk on his face, Estern said “Farewell”

“Stop it!” the man roared. He tried to snap out of the chains, but even his muscular body didn’t do him any good. “I’ll tell you! Leave her alone!”

“Tell me where that scum is hiding.” asked Estern, with the ball of fire still revolving in the air.

“We don’t know. Yesterday night, when we were surrounded by the police, we decided to diverge. He went towards the west.” said the man, looking in Estern’s eyes. “That’s all I can tell you.”

“Maybe you can tell me something more. What good did it do to you to perform these spells on yourself, you knew it was forbidden, didn’t you?”

“We knew it very well, right from the beginning. But we trusted our leader, it was the part of our plan. It was a requirement to prove our faith in our leader, that we will do what he says, without a question. Out of everyone who wished to join him, we were the only ones who passed the test of faith.”

Estern was surprised, ‘how can someone be so foolish’ “What do you mean by everyone who wished to join him? Are there others included in this?”

“They were, now they are dead. They betrayed the leader and took a step back when it was the chance to prove their worthiness. Idiots! They deserved it!” said the man, spitting on the ground.

Estern’s eyes were widened, his eyebrows were raised. ‘Who is this leader? Did he murder all of them?’ “What is the plan that you’re talking about!?” asked Estern, raising his voice.

But the man remained silent, staring at the ground.

“Speak whatever the devilish plan your leader is working on!” shouted Estern.

“I don’t know. He never told us.” whispered the man.
