The Blind Illusion! #18

The whole place seemed to shout at him, “Why are you still living? It would be better if you just drown in a river, or hang yourself by a tree!” But a tear sparkled from his eyes, making him remember the faint smile on the face of his new born baby. He had some responsibilities, he couldn’t kill himself. What about his son’s future? No, I have to live and fulfill all of his desires, even if he is the only one in the world who doesn’t curse me to death.

While he was struggling with his suicide thoughts, that seemed more like murdering himself, he moved on his path, ignoring all the curses and all the shouts that people welcomed him with. No matter how much he covered his ears with his hands, but the words of those people asking him to die were piercing his heart like a blade. He dared to lift his teary eyes and looked at the market, with all the people staring at him in disgust.

A boy holding her mother’s finger pointed at him, “Mumma, why that uncle is crying?” The woman snapped, “Don’t point your finger at him. He’s jinxed, always says nonsense against our religion. He deserves what he is getting!”

The man ignored like every other day, but there was one thought that he could never keep aside, what if his sons will be treated that way too? “Like father, like son. Both disgusting!”, the screams were already shouting through his mind. He should be dead, that’s what they want, that’s the only way his son could lead a happy life.

The man knocked at the door, which was scratched with the letters “Pyscho’s House, Beware!” A lady with thin face, with her hand over her head, pulled the man in. The man looked around his house; there were broken fragments of bricks lying on the ground, “They threw these again?” the man nearly pleaded. The lady with the covered face revealed the blood streaming through the wound on her head, “This is what they did!” she shouted at him.

The man exclaimed with sorrow, and pulled his hand, “Don’t even dare to touch me! This is happening all because of you and your bloody idiotic philosophy!”

“They are not idiotic, Evanna. Trust me, I have heard the voice of God myself, but I don’t blame you. Because this is the fate of a true prophet that he has to accept. The punishemnt to say the truth.” The man said with shriveling lips.

“Have you ever thought about our children? Do you think about their future? Josh told me that his classmates have started calling him “Psycho’s son” Is this what you want?”

“No, my dear. I want my children to lead a life that I could never have, I will never let a single spot of shame get on them! Trust me, Evanna, I only want their good.” The man pleaded with tears in his eyes.

“If you want our good, please leave us alone. I can’t stand the neighbor cursing my children anymore. You have put us in such a big trouble. Today that brick hit me, by God’s grace, what if it hit Mark? He’s just a small baby, unaware of all the evil that lies in the world. I don’t want him to be named another “Psycho’s son” Sorry, Ken, I have to leave you.”

“Please don’t do this to me. They are the only reason I’m living, I’ll die without them. Please,” Ken fell on his knees and sobbed on his wife’s feet. Even though he didn’t notice, but her eyes were filling to the brim, but she sighed heavily and fought back the tears.

“I have to do this, for our children’s sake. Please, Ken. Take good care of yourself.” And Evanna went in the room and picked up the sleeping baby from the cradle. His alluring face was shining. And behind the curtains, was Josh, listening to their whole conversation.

“Come Josh, we have to leave now.” Evanna said, extending her other hand, while holding the baby who was sleeping peacefully.

“I hate you!” shouted Josh, at the top of his voice, and ran upstairs. “I’m not leaving Dad, ever!”

Evanna looked at Ken, sobbing with his head under his head. And then he looked at her, with shining blue eyes pleading not to take his child away from him. But Evanna looked away and forced back her tears, I’m just doing this for our children’s good.

“You may go, I know that you’ll give them a future that I could never give them. Just let me say Goodbye to my son, for the last time.” His tears had so much to say, so much to plead, but only if they could speak.

Evanna lay her sleeping child in Ken’s lap. Ken smiled at him, and pressed him close to his chest. “Please forgive me, my child” he whispered in his ears. And the child woke up at the face of his crying father. The child tried to grab his beard, “You wanna play with Daddy?” and he broke out in another howl of tears. “I’m sorry son, your father doesn’t deserve your love too.” And then he kissed him on his forehead, and whispered Goodbye. Only if he could notice the tear that rolled from the baby’s eye and trickled down.

Even though his heart was fighting a war against it, he handed his child back. “Take care of Mark, Evanna. I want to see him be a great man! So that the people doesn’t curse him, but bow to him.”
